Woodside Primary School

Parents & Carers

At Woodside Primary School we know the importance of a strong partnership between the school and our families.

We try to give parents and carers as many opportunities as possible to encourage you to play a greater role in your child’s education.

Speaking to the Teacher
The start of the day is a busy time for teachers; however parents may be able to catch a teacher to pass on a message or make an appointment. If a meeting is required please either speak to the teacher directly or ring the office to make an appointment to meet with the teacher a mutually convenient time. After school is usually more convenient for teachers. If an early morning meeting is needed, please make an appointment and the teacher will meet with you before the children start arriving. We try to be flexible as good communication between school and home is essential.

Learning Review Meetings
These are held each term for parents/carers to meet their child’s teacher and discuss their child’s progress.
All parents/carers receive a written report on their child’s progress in the summer term. Soon after your child starts school you will be invited to meet with the class teacher to learn about how the classroom is organised, and how the curriculum is delivered. Later in the Autumn term an individual appointment will be offered to enable you to meet the class teacher and your child to discuss their learning progress. In the Nursery and Reception observations are sent out every half term on To Build A Profile. There are Curriculum Information meetings every term for parents/carers to understand how to support their children. We also hold meetings to share information about how we deliver the curriculum.
